Paul,

LapLink for Windows is a good program for the task you described.  I have used
it for a number of years.  Uses a cable connect (they provide parallel cable)
and then you can view directories on both computers.  Select what files you
want to transfer.  Will also be of value in the future if continuing to use
the
lap top.
