Ian,
You are right with your reason why there is no further need for screen savers.
However, except for art's sake, the only other reason to have screen savers is
that, at least with Win 95/8, you can invoke password protection whenever you
are away from your machine for any length of time without shutting down your
PC. I can't speak for Win ME and XP.
