Hi all,
John Mueller, co-author of Peter Norton's Complete Guide
to Windows 95, 1998 Edition, cleared up the problem of the
missing ASCII characters. While you can no longer just tap
Alt plus the 3-digit number as in days of yore, access to
all of the old familiar characters is still available if you
access the Character Map (CHARMAP.EXE file), which is
located in one of the CAB files on the Windows 95 CD.
Once CHARMAP.EXE is extracted and activated, change the
Font Selection to Terminal. After the characters appear,
click on the desired one, and press ALT followed by the
4-digit number appearing in the lower right corner.
I found it most convenient to install CHARMAP.EXE on the
Desktop for easy access.
