Patrick,

Use the RIGHT mouse button to do the dragging instead of the left.
This will give you two advantages.
#1 It will stop and confirm the destination. (Have you ever let go of the
mouse button too soon and had to go look for the file?)
#2 It gives you a choice so that you can select either copy or move.
