Does anyone know whether there have been any recent Vista updates which
have strengthened the Vista logon password?

I recently had an occasion where the user had created a new password but
omitted to write it down. He thinks it was about 12 characters.

My 2 normal password recovery disks were unsuccessful, each of which is
supposed to be highly rated and both have been successful in the past.

In that case, I reformatted and reinstalled Vista after saving his data,
but I wonder why the recovery disks wouldn't work.

It has occurred to me that perhaps Microsoft may have recently strengthened
its password security. I know it has come under a lot of criticism for the
fact that passwords can be so readily defeated.
