Well from what I understand, here are my thoughts. Using your browser (I
assume your DEFAULT browser is IE), go to the "Tools" Menu then from the
drop-down menu select "Internet Options", then from the dialogue box that
opens, select the "Programs" tab. You might want to select another email
client (just for now) and hit the "apply" button then exit out of all the
dialogue boxes pressing the "OK" button etc etc.

Then fire up OE and as it launches it will give you a message telling you it
is not the default mail client and would you like it to be. Say "No" to it
and then once OE is up and running, go to Tools, Options, General tab area
and see what's up there.

I am not quite sure what you are trying to accomplish here. Therefore, I
hope this helps.

Subject: [PCSOFT] Default Email Program

When I go to Outlook Express (6.0) Tools, Options, General tab there are
two select boxes at the bottom for setting OE as the default email and news
handler. In my case those boxes are grayed out, thus I cannot select them.
This is a recent change because a couple weeks ago I had a bigtime crash and
had to format my hard drive and reinstall Win98SE. Before I had selected OE
as my default program. In my browser settings for Tools, Internet Options,
Programs tab, OE is shown as my Internet Service for Email and Newsgroups.
Somewhere else I must have an incorrect setting that is preventing me from
making these selections in OE Tools. Can someone help me fix this problem?
I should add that twice now I've been unable to use programs/services
because of this glitch.

Thank you.

Mike Williams
