       My cd drive, E, was working fine, then suddenly is no longer
"recognized", that is, I cannot get it to play cd's, and it is not
listed in any of the "system" listings, eg, My Computer, Device Manager
etc.
When I insert a cd, the light flickers briefly, as usual, but then
nothing. I have a post up about a missing mapi fle, I mention this in
case it is related, but I suspect not. This happened before, but a
friend fixed it and I do not remember how (as if I could at this stage).
