Robin,

Click on START, RUN and then type in MSIMN /REG and see if this restores
Outlook Express to the list of programs that can be used as the default mail
handler. I hope that helps.

----- Original Message -----
I'm running Win95, Office 97 and Outlook Express 5.5. Outlook Express used
to be my default email program until my SO did something to the PC. He is
unable to tell me what he did. When I go to Tools | Options in Outlook
Express and click the MAKE DEFAULT button next to "This program is NOT the
default Mail handler it allows me to set it as the default. However, I click
Apply or OK and then when I go back into Tools | Options the setting has
reverted to not being the default. Also, when I go to Internet Options |
Programs | E-mail, there is nothing showing. The only thing in the pull-down
list is Microsoft Outlook. How do I get Outlook Express back as the
default -- and make it retain that setting?
