Quite a simple process. All you need is Adobe Acrobat. After installing
Acrobat, you will have a new button on your Office toolbar that export your
document as a .pdf. Or you can manually convert it by printing to the
Acrobat printer driver...that's the beauty of Acrobat, anything that can be
printed can be made into a .pdf. There are still a few minor quirks, but
they will be worked out as the format develops.

As .pdf is not an "open" standard, MS cannot include a .pdf export filter in
their software without licensing it from Adobe. Several graphics packages
have begun to license these filters, but they have not filtered over to word
processors yet.

The current version is 4.x, but you might be able to get a better deal on
3.1...there are still quite a few copies of it on the market...
