Wanda,

I run WinXP but as I remember in win98, all you have to do is press
function key "F8" while the computer is booting and the startup settings
are flashing on the screen, and before any part of Win98 starts loading.
Then you will get a selection screen which will give you startup choices
like Safe Mode or Win98. Just select the startup method you wish and your
computer will then always start in that mode unless you reenter the "F8"
key mode again.
