I got one of these $400 systems a year or two ago. (It just seemed SO inexpensive.)
I "burned it in" and luckily it did not last three days.  I had the "privilege" of looking
inside, and I know what good parts are, (I build my systems now). To say I was shocked
at the quality of the parts is an understatement.  I had never seen a hard drive with
a plastic housing before, or since, (from Western Digital).
It had shared motherboard video/memory, and if I wanted better video I think half of
my slots would have been used up.  The modem was a "known bad model", and they
were hoping nobody was going to notice... (The guys in tech support actually told
me that.)  Before you think I'm whining too much, when I have gotten involved in these
situations (yes, twice) my return is usually sitting next to the other eight they had
returned the same day... (Can I pick'em or what...?)    Rick Glazier
