A CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) is a calculated value across a collection
of bits. It's routinely used in some communications protocols to detect
whether data has become corrupted in transit.
Windows Explorer, though, has no reason to do this kind of check on the
*contents* of a file. It might, however, perform this kind of check on some
of the data structures which make up the file system, and THAT strongly
suggests that you should perform a CHKDSK (exact procedure depends on
Windows version) before attempting to move/modify any files on this drive.
