You don't say what type of computer you have, but I suspect it is an
IBM PS/1, IBM Aptiva, IBM Ambra, or IBM notebook. This file is
used for the suspend to disk functions provided with the computer.

You may wish to disable the suspend to disk functions using the BIOS
or utilities provided with the computer(for example, some IBM Aptivas had
a program in AptivaWare called Suspend). If you wish to continue to
use the suspend to disk feature, then the file is necessary, as that is where
the computer stores the contents of all memories(RAM, video RAM) and CPU
state.
