Hello Marc,
Unfortunately your lady friend will probably have to reinstall Windows,
although she could try a repair install first. Refer to the following Web
page for suggestions in response to this error:
Google Groups : microsoft.public.windowsxp.general:
http://tinyurl.com/b763z
Needless to say, your friend also needs to be more maintenance and security
conscious as evidenced by her not allowing Windows to check disk and the
presence of a worm that has been around over five years. Windows doesn't
attempt a disk check simply because it has nothing better to do. Something
is wrong when this happens and Windows is attempting to correct it. The
Wscript.KakWorm.dr is a dropper file that the Wscript.KakWorm worm copies to
a hard drive when an infected email is opened. This file can only be dropped
onto a system with a version of the Outlook or Outlook Express e-mail client
that has not been updated with the Microsoft security patch that protects
against such infection.

Subject: [PCSOFT] ISASS.EXE- SYSTEM ERROR
Dear list members,
I am writing on behalf of my lady friend who has a problem with
her home PC using Windows XP and connected to the internet via
broadband. A few days ago she received the following error message:
lsass.exe - system error
An invalid HANDLE was specified
OK
The computer wouldn't boot up and then almost shut down on its
own, but when it came up again it did a disc check which she
declined. She then did a scan, and this is what it came up with
(and was quarantined):
Wscript.Kakworm.dr
The original location was C:\undo\backup_cab.vir>>/C:\
It said something about it being a compressed file.
TIA for your help,
Marc Olivier Rafanelli
