The My Documents icon on the desktop is only a shortcut. Moving that won't
help. The real folder will be under C/Docs and Settings. There will likely
be more than one, under the various user names.

You will need to locate the real folder (s) under your username and
possibly under Admin and All Users. It depends on how your computer has
been set up initially.

Your new desktop shortcut should point not to these folders, but to the new
(or moved) folder which you have created in whichever drive you have chosen
to store your data files.

Whenever you save any new files, remember to save to the new location. Most
software should remember its last Save location, but some still wants to
Save to a predetermined location. I find that a little utility called
Dialogue Box Assistant (Osdex) http://www.win-utilities.com/dba/index.html
assists enormously by adding a box to all Save boxes which stores all your
regular Save locations. I've used it for years. It used to be free, but
now it costs $20. You might locate an old freeware version somewhere, my
old W95 version works just fine with XP.
