Hi,
   I have seen a similiar problem.  On some single head
printers, the printer requires you to change the cartridge from
a color one to a black one before it will print black text.  I
am not familiar with works, but if possible, try changing the
font color and printing a sample where the text is none black.
If it will print, it is most likely the black cartridge is
missing or empty.
