The S.M.A.R.T. capability most likely is irrelevent to the problem and
should probably remain disabled.

www.rojakpot.com.  There is an excellent guide there to help you decide how
to set up all the poorly documented items in your BIOS.  If anyone knows of
other sources for this kind of information, it would be nice if you would
share them with us.
