I have a customer who is running a 486 with Dos 6.22 and special
professional single tasking applications. I will be upgrading them to a
basic business Pentium class PC running Win 98. However they want to be
able to use the PC exactly how they do now. They do not want to run the DOS
applications out of Dos Windows as 95 percent of the use will be in Dos.
They boot to a simple batch file driven menu which loads their DOS
applications and they want to be able to keep using it as is. They also
want to occasionally load Win 98 to use a medical reference CD ROMs and a Word
Processor and for future expansibility.

This doesn't sound like a problem as I will separate things on different
partitions and have 98 boot to DOS as the default......essentially run like
a DOS 6.2 / WFWG setup. I realize that Win 98 will allow me to dual boot
Dos 6.22
and 98 but that would defeat part of my purpose of Y2K compliance and
introduce another layer of complexity. I will need to update the batch
files with the new paths but nothing unusual. It is very important that
this PC be simple to use and extremely reliable.

Will this be this be as straight forward and trouble free as I think it
will. Is there anything I am missing here ? Is anyone running a similar
setup now ?....any problems ?

Has anybody used PKZIP32 to backup and restore a Win 98 drive from a Win 98
floppy boot disk? Any problems ?

Thanks

Mark
