  It's not clear to me what the current state of your machine is.

  First of all, are you getting your preferred virtual memory settings to
stick yet?  [If not, we can look at adjusting them until they will stick.]

  If so, are they adequate for the application load?

  What is your typical load when you get the message?  Is there some
comfination of applications that always seems to produce this message?
  Have you tried running with Resource Meter active?  "Out of memory" could
be an "Out of resources" problem....
