The most common cause that I have seen for the sudden loss of sound is bad
speakers, usually in the wire right at the jack. You don't mention any
milestone event which would serve as the 'with sound/without sound'
boundary, where the event might be a clue if not the cause of the trouble.
Lacking any 'smoking gun' like that, I would try a different set of speakers
first.

surf or move around on the desktop there use to be sounds,now there are no

when i used to adjust the volume using the speaker by the clock it used to
