A common scenario that I see is that Spammer X has, say, 5000 Yahoo email
addresses that they've bought, begged borrowed or stolen. They can't just
send a message to all 5000 at once.
So they split the list up into groups of say 25 names. For each group,
they send their message to the first name in the group and BCC the other 24.
So 24 people get a message that looks like it was sent to someone with an
email address that was *similar* to theirs, or occurred near it in
alphabetical order.
Some of this spam is designed to look, to the recipient, like they have
accidentally received a copy of someone else's email containing, say, an
insider stock trading tip or a password to a secret web site. Of course,
that's not what really happened at all.
