With replacement hard drive, I'm trying to reinstall word6 -- and have
substantial troubles. I split the new HD into C: and D:. On D:, I made
the directory Word6. Into it, I've copied all the blessed word6 disks.

Virtually all files have, as the third character in the extension, a _
-- which indicates, I understand, that the file is compressed. But there
is also the file DECOMP.EXE. I assume that to be the decompressor.

I found, it appears, that I can't use that on the directory in which it
lives, so copied DECOMP.EXE into C:\UTILS. I find, however, that the
instructions refer both to source and destination files and to compressed
 and decompressed files.

I try invoking DECOMP. I'm asked for the path or filename for the
compressed file(s), and enter D;\WORD6 -- and I'm asked for path or
filename for DEcompressed files, for which I enter D:\WORD (another
directory I've made in supposed preparation.

But it doesn't work. I get something like "no source found"! Any
suggestions? Should I, for example, even _before_ trying any
decompression, have tried something like SETUP.EXE (which I believe
I've also seen in the list of 90-odd<!> files)? Incidentally, so far
as the location for compressed files, I've also tried using wild cards
-- D:\word6\*.* -- and have tried similar stunts for location for the
decompressed files. No help.

I'd much appreciate any help. Fear this is only the beginning. ---ed
