You may be "barking up the wrong tree"...
You can't start NetZero with the connection it puts in DUN.
(Do not touch that on this, or "any" Free ISP...)
You MUST start it with the ZeroPort file, and let it "re-configure"
your system in real time. (nzstart.exe)
It then uses an embedded dialer to start the NetZero service,
your Browser, and the "AD" banner...
After all this stuff loads, you can POP3, and SMTP your NetZero mail.
I've used or setup NetZero on several computers, and it seems
to be the easiest to use of the Free ISPs I have seen so far...
A new version of the Zeroport software was released in the last
couple of days. I am having trouble "moving" an account to
my brother's machine... I changed the entire hard drive, and lost the
function of "just" the browser. (The ads work...)
AOL has never been on this machine. (Or any other ISP.)
I just got a message from the NetZero system that it might be "down."
