  Using the Task Manager to terminate a running process should be a
last resort, not something one does "often".  Programs terminated in
this way do not get the same opportunity to "clean up after
themselves" as they would if one clicked the close "X" or chose
File|Exit.

  Have you tried rebooting the system?  MOST of the things that might
not get cleaned up properly when programs are terminated this way
would get reset by a reboot....
