I recently moved and now cannot connect to my ISP. When I click on either
Netscape 4.5 or IE4 (using WIN98) DUN connects to the point where it says
"Verifying user name and password". At this point it stays there for about
30 seconds, then the modem hangs up and the computer says "unable to connect
to computer" or "check network protocol....". This is extremely
frustrating. The only changes that have occurred are the fact that I have
moved (can still use same number to dial in - even tried 2 other #'s to the
ISP with same results) which means a new phone connection and was using
Smith Micro Quicklink Messenger III which I have now removed from the
computer to no avail.

Please note that my son has a computer with exactly the same circumstances
and his connected properly the first time he used it.

My computer information;
IBM Aptiva M40 - Mwave modem is GONE!
WIN98
IE4
US Robotics SPorster WInmodem.

Could the phone wiring be reversed and cause this?
We use the modem to dial into Juno w/o any problem on this computer.
Checking the modem in Control Panel shows no problem.

Help and thanks,

Fred Hahnel
