One method I like to use to have programs run on loading is to place a
new string value in the registry.

Before attempting any changes to the registry, either export the registry
(from
the "File" menu in regedit) to another location on your hard disk where you
can
retrieve and 'reinstall' it, if necessary, or copy c:\<path>\system.dat,
c:\<path>\user.dat to a similar alternative location on your hard disk for
the
same reason. I've created a folder called settings for this purpose. It
has the
advantage, also, of being an 8-letter folder name, making it easy to get to
in
DOS if stuff gets really hairy and you have to rescue from the command
prompt.

--Run regedit and drill down to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
--With the folder "Run" showing open on the left pane of the regedit
window, left-click
in the right pane of the regedit window.
--Click the "Edit" drop-down menu and choose "New"-->"String Value".
--In the value that appears, type a representative name.
(I run Symantec's kill_cih.exe from the registry, so I called the value
Kill_CIH.)
--Right-click on the value, then left-click "Modify".
--In the dialog box, type the complete path to the executable you want to
run
as Win9x loads.
This should do it.

If you prefer not to use the registry to launch the program, another
alternative
would be to include its complete path on the line "load=" in the [windows]
section
of c:\<path>\win.ini.
