Kevin,
I am not familiar with Trans XP, but have used the version of Ghost 2003
that comes with SystemWorks Pro 2003 for a year. The only problem I have run
into is that it will not work from Windows XP with my new SATA RAID/IDE RAID
hardrive setup. It will still work from the DOS disk with this setup.
Actually, it just uses a Windows front end and must drop to DOS to actually
do the imaging and restoring. I have imaged and restored my system many
times. It isn't completely intuitive, but if you follow the prompts you
shouldn't have a problem as long as your understand their terminology (from
image/partition, to image/partition, etc).
I find Ghost to be the perfect emergency backup. I can image my C: (system)
and E: (programs) in about 30 minutes (total size about 5.5 gig) and restore
in about the same time. Lots faster than installing Windows XP and all the
software from scratch. I then use another backup program (DataKeeper) to
make daily backups of my data files. I periodically burn a CD of the data
file backups.
I don't think Ghost would be your best choice for the weekly backup as it
makes an image of the entire disk/partition.
HTH.
