We have a 520, and as far as I know, you have to set the 520 up via computer,
but afterwards, you can use it as a stand-alone--with limited functions
(simple manual fax send/receive)--I on't know why you'd want to tho.  You 1st
have to set it up (again via computer--fax / receive settings / receive /
receive faxes to printer).  The only part of this that I havent tried is to
operate the 520 disconnected from the computer.
