OK, I have a question here, but also a workaround.

For whatever reason, when I right click, I don't get "paste special" as an
option. Not that I don't know about it. It's just that on my 18 month old
computer, with XP and Office 2003, "paste special" does not exist. What's
the story with that? I miss having that as an option. I know that cut and
paste is a function of Windows . . . is there a setting I can adjust
somewhere to get "paste special"?

But, I have found a workaround. Whenever I want to strip out formatting, I
paste something into Notepad. That strips out the formatting, so I can then
cut and paste the text elsewhere.

This has one other major plus. On mapping sites, if you cut and paste
driving directions, you get some unusual results when you paste, especially
with symbols for right and left. With the previous described method of
filtering it through Notepad, the symbols are tamed to a simple "right" or
"left". A pretty nifty trick!
