DOS Compatibility mode usually indicates that something is missing a driver.
Have a look in Device Manager and see what's showing a yellow exclamation
mark.

Often, just removing the problem device from Device Manager and rebooting
will cause it to be 'rediscovered' on the next startup. Alternatively, if
you have a driver for it, reinstall it.
