I have a Promise Ultra 100 controller in an NT Server that is also
seen as a SCSI controller.
That gets particularly funky, because there is also an Adaptec 2940
SCSI controller in the machine, and the BIOS (which sees the Promise
as IDE) and OS disagree about which controller comes first. It took
several tries to get the OS to install, with the right drivers for
both cards and the right drive letters for all the drives, but once
done it has been stable for a year or more.
