Typically, a virus is not put on CD's (ie from vendors like Microsoft, IBM,
etc).  But if you use a writable cd that is shared from someone, it could
contain a virus and cause damage if they don't protect their system.  Norton
Antivirus will certainly scan your CD (and I believe most virus packages
will), but if it detects a virus, it won't be able to innoculate it, because
of the read only status a cd would have.  You would basically have to throw
the disk away.
