Gary (et al),

I just rearranged the order of the buttons on the existing
toolbars and added 2 more buttons to them.

Since first posting, I have found a couple of articles in the
MS Knowledge base --- stumbled on them actually.  In Outlook's
help file, they are called TOOLBARS so when you search the
knowledge base for TOOLBAR, nothing shows up.  But while reading
some other articles, I found out that -in the knowledge base-
MS refers to them as COMMAND BARS.  After a new search for
command bars and viola! There are several pertinent articles,
but none has yielded a permanent solution to my problem.
sigh......
