It is possible to copy programs, but there are registry entries that
would be needed to be created, and many common files are located in the
Windows directory and would have to be found and copied also. It is
usually easier to just install the applications on the new machine. Do
you have the MS Word program install files on the Recovery Disk? If not,
you need to find out how your vendor provided for your MS Word program.
If the Recovery Disk does have it, there should be some sort of install
routine to lead you through the process.

I bought a new computer which has Windows XP installed. My old one has
Windows 98. I'd like to copy my Microsoft Word program from the old one
to the new one but I don't know if I can since the OS is different. Is
it possible to install it to the new system from the Recovery Disc of
the old one or either to copy it to a disk and then put it on my new
one? If so can you please tell me how to do it. Thanks in advance.
