Everyone's answer "might" be different, (and keeping that in mind),
I have a several scanners and sometimes the free OCR that came
with "some" (Visioneer) was far superior to the paid upgrades of the
same OCR program --- WHEN scanning very simple stuff...
Part of that is dependant on exactly what you are scanning.
The type face/(font), size, resolution, and if you want to retain formatting, etc.
