Hi Ian,
in tools, internet options, advanced settings, uncheck the option to
automatically check for IE updates.

Subject: [PCSOFT] Internet Explorer 5.5 - unwanted updates
My W98SE rig running IE 5.5 has just started trying to automatically update
itself, ie logon to the MS Windows update site of it's own accord.
I don't recall doing anything to have encouraged this behaviour, and I
certainly don't want it to persist.
Can someone tell me how to turn this 'facility' off?
TIA
Ian Porter
