This is one of these "exactly how are you doing this?" type questions.
I'll bet you are trying to capture the audio and convert it to MP3
at the same time (on the fly) on a system that is underpowered,
(Harsh words - <bg>), or set up wrong. (A through-put bottle-neck)
Try this:
Record to a wav file and then use MMJ to convert it when it can
pay more attention to the conversion process, and other "system
activities" or programs will not interrupt it or interfere with it...

Unable to properly copy vinyl recordings to disk with MusicMatch Plus. The
recorder timer indicates an elapsed time of about 50 seconds when the actual
input time is 60 seconds and the timer does not advance smoothly, but in a
jerky manner. Then the replay sounds like a 33 1/3 played at 45 rpm. Faster,
higher pitched and with a good bit of distortion. CDs do not have this trouble.
I use "Line In" on the sound card and very stable BIC 80Z turntable's output
into a Scott Amplifier and then output to the sound card. At the time of the
recording the monitored sound is very good.
