It is always hard to know on some of these issues. It could merely be a 
glitch in the printer software drivers. Of course one thing you could try is 
to hook up another printer and see what happens. Or, save the file and print 
it on a different computer.

One possibility is that you have formatted the line into your text. One way 
to do that is to go to Format/Borders and Shading. There you can insert 
custom borders, including lines exclusively at the end of pages, and 
possibly paragraphs. Sometimes if you cut and paste, you can acquire 
unwanted formatting. (See my previous post about stripping out formatting.)

What you might want to do is to display all your formatting on screen. Go to 
Tools/Options/View/Formatting Marks/All. Something might jump out at you.
