Since the modem is NOT PB you have the opportunity to
in-install and then re-install it and the drivers.
Why this would happed is anybodies guess...

I took a speed "hit" like this plugging my phone line into
(or through) my IBM 500va UPS... I was suprised to say
the least... (But it "was" on sale... Maybe I know why
now...)  Any chance something esle changed, like this?

  I recently installed the MSDUN 1.4 update. Before the install,
  I could connect at 45.3. Now, after the install, the most I
  can get is 33.6.
