I have a problem with an external 56k V.90 Duxbury ASVD modem. I had the
modem set up and running perfectly. I disconnected the external cable from
the port (com2) so that I could connect a scanner to the port directly
below the modem. I then reconnected the modem and booted up the computer
and try as I may the modem
"cannot be detected." I have replaced the external cable and the internal 9
wire ribbon connector which plugs directly onto the motherboard. I have
even tried to set up another external modem, all to no avail.

I reconnected my old internal modem (also com2) and it was detected at
bootup. I set it up choosing it from the list supplied with Win95sr2 and it
works perfectly!

Do I need to delete all traces of the internal modem from my computer
before I can get the external modem to operate?

TIA

David
