I've heard this tip mentioned before, and I still find myself wondering how
a worm would know that a message had been undeliverable. After all, the
message does get sent out, and it goes at least as far as your ISP's mail
server. The worm would have to be waiting for and checking your incoming
mail, recognizing that one said a message had not been delivered.
The part about it providing a head's up that a virus may be making use of
your address book does sound useful, however.

Here's what you do:
First, open your address book and click on "new contact" just as you would
do if you were adding a new name to your list of email addresses.
In the window where you would type your friend's first name, type in
!000 (that's an exclamation mark followed by 3 zeros). In the window
below where it prompts you to enter the new email address, type in
WormAlert. You system will probably tell you that this is not a valid email
address and ask if you want to enter it anyway....say yes.
Then complete everything by clicking save, add, enter, OK, etc.
