Here's what Netscape has to say on the subject

web-accelerators, crash-catchers, "ads-off" type programs and constantly
running virus-checkers can also cause problems. For what it's worth, I
had problems with 4.61 also. Went back to 4.51 and everything is good.
Many folks, however, have no problems with 4.6x. There are signs that a
4.7 version may be released soon. Netscape likes to put new releases on
their ftp servers on Friday evenings.
