Hello all,

I just purchased MS Office 2000 Premium Upgrade Edition, and I have been
having problems installing it.

When I pop in Disk 1 CD, the Windows Installer "Preparing to Install" screen
comes up, followed by the MS Office 2000 Setup screen, which reads "Preparing
to Install Microsoft Office 2000 ... " However, that's where it quits. It
just dies right there, and never proceeds from that point. I've waited from
5-15 minutes on multiple attempts, to no avail.

The strange thing is that the computer doesn't actually lock up nor I do get
any error messages until I CTRL-ALT-DEL the setup program. Approximately 5
minutes after shutting down the setup program, I get a GPF on MSIEXEC in
module KERNEL32.DLL.

I have a Compaq computer -- Pentium 166 MMX Overdrive processor; 88MB RAM.
Any ideas on what I should do? MS Tech Support told me to re-format my HD
and all, and I'd rather not do that if I don't have to.

Mike
