Thanks to Gail Titus who privately sent me links to a couple of good timed shutdown apps. I'll post them here in case anyone else wants them.
This one is a gem http://www.mondor.org/sdown.htm It's 12kb, doesn't need installing and it's free.
This one is also free and seems pretty good, too http://web.onetel.net.uk/~tinnes/downloads.htm though it's a little heftier at 1.9mb, and needs installing.
