I am not sure if this helps( I am somewhat unsure of what you mean when
you ask about "automatically creating" new files).

Try saving each file with quotation marks around the name. e.g.
suppose you wish to save a certain file as

                Boston.a99

rather than the customary

                Boston.doc

To do so, you would enter

                "Boston.a99"

as the file name(rather than Boston.doc) in the Save As dialog box.
