I doubt that.  Any installation of IE makes many changes to Windows,--it's
not only browser but also acts as a sort of upgrade to the system and is
tightly integrated with it.

No doubt the reinstallation is what helped your computer performance---it
will still be tightly "integrated" whether you like it or not.

Don't quite understand here.  Is IE set to open at startup?  (Not
wise).  If not, check all startup locations (see my tutorial "Computer slow
to start" for details).

Try changing the IE Homepage to "About Blank". (IE Tools/Internet
Options).  Might help.

Backup your registry while your computer is performing well.  Then you can
always restore that registry if things start to go haywire later.
