  The "HyperTerminal" program that comes with Windows may be sufficient.  [It
should at least handle dialing in and talking to the BBS -- not sure how well
equipped it is for downloading files.]  I usually do a "Custom" install of
Windows, and see it listed as an optional component under "Communications" --
you may have to go to Add/Remove Programs|Windows Setup if it is not already
installed.
