Thanks Emie. All this discussion about one of my customer's BCC-type sending issue has got me thinking that maybe I should be setting up a group emailing system myself.
Then I could contact ALL my customers in one hit when I want to provide them with information like a warning about this latest Virus silliness.
Presumably I'll have to send something like, 'Dear Computer Guys customer', or 'Hi Folks', but is it possible to set up a group list in such a way that each recipient gets a message headed up with their own name?
I mean like, 'Hi Mike,.........' or 'Hi Harriet,........" etc etc, with a common message following?

What I would recommend you do Ian (talking about Outlook Express now) is
place all the recipient names under BCC and don't put anything on the To:
block. All the recipients will recieve the messages but no names will show
up on the copy they each received. Therefore, there is "no indication that
the same message has been sent to a number of others." I tried this last
week with OE and it worked fine. Good luck.
