I haven't had to actually do this yet, but I've been gradually getting
more and more into digital video production (etc), and so far as I can
determine the premier product for converting video files between formats
seems to be something called "Debabelizer Pro". There might be something
cheaper out there that will, too, but it may not do a good job (as seems to
be the case with the package you've tried).
