I don't have a good solution for your problem, but I can share with you that
I too ran into the same "freeze" problem when trying to open a particular
e-mail message. I never discovered what it was in the specific e-mail that
caused it, but I believe it had something to do with the outlook.pst data
file. I had upgraded to Outlook 2003, but was still using the original
outlook.pst from my earlier version of Outlook. Once I created a new data
file and transferred whatever I needed to it from the old file, I have not
run into such a problem again. Not to say that I might not happen again,
only saying that it has not happened so far!

You may also try running the Outlook data file repair utility. Here is a
link on how to do this: http://www.slipstick.com/problems/scanpst.asp

Good luck.
